Phantom vs Solflare: which Solana wallet is better?
Phantom is better for most people: it is more polished, supports other chains and is accepted by almost every Solana app. Solflare is better for stakers and hardware wallet users, since it supports both Ledger and Keystone and focuses only on Solana.

Verdict
Phantom wins for most users because of its design, its multi-chain support and its wide acceptance. If you also hold ETH or BTC, one app covers it. Solflare wins if you stake SOL seriously or keep your keys on a Ledger or Keystone. Its Solana-only focus is a plus there, and it does not publish a fixed swap fee the way Phantom does. Many Solana users keep both: Phantom for daily use and Solflare with a hardware wallet for savings.
Security
Both are self-custody wallets with transaction warnings and spam-token filtering. Phantom's app code is not open source, but it publishes audit reports. Solflare publishes parts of its code, including its SDK and phishing blocklist. In August 2022 roughly 9,000 Solana wallets lost an estimated $4M to $5M. The Solana Foundation traced it to Slope, and Solflare users who lost funds had reused Slope-created seed phrases (CryptoSlate, Oct 2026). The bigger everyday risk for both is fake sites and fake browser extensions. Type phantom.com or solflare.com yourself.
Fees
As of October 2026, Phantom charges about 0.85% on swaps, and bridges typically cost 0.1% to 0.5% plus network fees (Coin Bureau, Jun 2026). Solflare routes swaps through Jupiter, and we could not find a fixed Solflare fee in its documentation. Compare the quoted output before you confirm. Solana network fees are tiny in both.
Staking
Both let you delegate SOL to a validator you choose while keeping custody. Solflare offers more detailed validator information. New stakes need at least 1 SOL, standard unstaking is free, and Instant Unstake costs 0.5% to 3% depending on liquidity (CryptoSlate, Oct 2026).
Who should pick which
