Trust Wallet vs Exodus: which multi-coin wallet is better?
Trust Wallet is better for phone-first users who want the most chains and Web3 apps. Exodus is better for people who want a polished desktop app with matching mobile apps and hardware wallet support through Trezor and Ledger. Trust Wallet's swap pricing is clearer; Exodus charges a spread.

Verdict
Trust Wallet wins on chain coverage, Web3 access and cost transparency for mobile users. Exodus ended WalletConnect, its dApp browser and its browser extension in 2026, so it no longer connects to DeFi apps. Exodus wins for desktop users and anyone who wants to add a Trezor or Ledger later without changing apps. If you mostly hold a handful of major coins and like a clean design, Exodus is pleasant. Just know that its swaps include a spread that can be higher than Trust Wallet's fee on small trades.
Security
Both are self-custody wallets that store keys on your device. Trust Wallet's Chrome extension was compromised on 24 December 2025 through a malicious version 2.68. About $7M was taken, version 2.69 fixed the problem the next day, and the company opened claims and said it would cover the losses (The Block, 27 Dec 2025). Mobile apps were not affected. Exodus has no breach of its wallet on record, but its code is mostly closed, so outside review is limited. Both brands are widely copied by phishing sites. Type trustwallet.com or exodus.com yourself.
Fees
Trust Wallet's own comparison page lists a 0.7% swap fee. Exodus shows no separate fee line. Its cost is a spread built into the quoted rate. Exodus does not publish a fixed rate, and third-party reviews put it at roughly 0.5% to 2% depending on the pair and size (CryptoTicker, 12 Oct 2026). Swaps made up 71.5% of Exodus revenue in Q2 2026, according to the same report. Sending and receiving cost only network fees in both.
Hardware wallet support
Exodus works with Trezor on desktop and with Ledger, so you can keep Exodus as your interface while keys stay on a device. Trust Wallet's hardware support is limited. If you plan to upgrade to cold storage, that favours Exodus, or a pairing such as MetaMask with a hardware wallet.
Who should pick which
- Pick Trust Wallet if you live on your phone, use Web3 apps, or hold coins across many chains.
- Pick Exodus if you prefer a desktop app, want Trezor or Ledger support, or value a very simple design.
- Also consider Atomic Wallet only after reading its 2023 hack history, and compare MetaMask vs Trust Wallet.
Frequently asked questions
Is Trust Wallet or Exodus safer?
Both are self-custody. Trust Wallet had a Chrome extension hack in December 2025 (about $7M, which Trust Wallet pledged to cover), while Exodus has no wallet breach on record but is mostly closed source. For savings, pair Exodus with Trezor or Ledger, or use a hardware wallet directly.
Does Exodus charge fees?
Exodus charges no fee to send or receive beyond network fees. Swaps include a spread in the quoted rate, estimated by third-party reviews at about 0.5% to 2%.
Is Exodus open source?
Mostly not. Some components are public, but the main app is closed source, unlike Trust Wallet's open Wallet Core library.
Does Exodus work with Trezor and Ledger?
Yes. Exodus supports Trezor on desktop and Ledger, so keys stay on the device while you use the Exodus app.
Which has more coins, Trust Wallet or Exodus?
Trust Wallet says it supports 100+ blockchains, more than Exodus's several dozen networks.
